One of the fab things about living in Central Florida is that the weather allows you to do a whole lot of living outside, including watching movies. My son, Javier, is an avid movie watcher. He analyzes films, talks about them for days, and is always up for a new one.
We live just a few blocks from Leu Gardens, which hosts regular outdoor movie nights. If you pick the right time of year (read: now), it’s a total delight to pack a picnic at the new Fresh Market nearby and catch a flick after dark. Kids often start out watching and end up playing, which is totally fine because the vibe is always relaxed and fun. Tickets are just $5. Most movies are shown on the first Friday of every month, but they have been known to switch up the schedule during holidays and other times.
Leu Gardens isn’t the only place to catch Orlando outdoor movies. Winter Park’s Central Park plays hosts on the second Thursday of every month, and those movies are free!
Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs has outdoor movies for free as well. This Thursday, they’re playing Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas at 7 p.m.
