I LOOOOOOVE our Orlando Science Center. In the three years since my parents started buying us a family membership for Christmas presents, I’ve lost count of the number of times we ‘ve visited. I love the way it grows with us, always engaging my girls, now 3 and 5, with interesting exhibits and interactive ways to get them thinking about the world around them.
Recently we started seeing CineDome movies in the theatre that looks like a planetarium, but you’ll still find us whiling away at least an hour in the orange grove, a place I swear offers one of the best lessons in cooperation and teamwork my kids have ever received. Kids have to work together to get the oranges loaded onto a conveyor, then take turns pedaling a bike to create the energy that powers it.
Besides permanent exhibits showcasing everything from Florida wildlife to dinosaurs to weather, the Orlando Science Center features spectacular traveling exhibits that set up shop for just a few months.
Now through January 5, 2014, Level 2 is the new home for Sesame Street Presents: The Body, a hands-on, interactive, multimedia exhibition inviting kids to learn about anatomy, nutrition and exercise. It’s AWESOME, but don’t take my word for it. These photos will give you a glimpse into the colorful and engaging experiences that captivated the imaginations of my kids.
